Dance Photography for Virginia Creatives

Andrew Bowen Studios

Why do dancers from across Virginia come to Greensboro for dance photography?

So much more than a photoshoot. The Creative Dance Retreat is a supportive space for you to explore your artistry while crafting exceptional photos. I will be your coach, collaborator, cheerleader, and photographer as we work together to realize the images of your dreams.

Let’s create the scroll-stopping creative dance photography you’ve always wanted, headshots that get you noticed, and audition photos that showcase your absolute best.

WE TAKE TIME TO GET IT RIGHT

Having the time and support to explore your art, try something new, or experiment with variations is the key to bringing a photograph to life.

Your time here is a Creative Dance Retreat, not merely a photoshoot. Bring it all; bring your ideas, bring your dreams. We are going to have fun and create something uniquely you.

He is very patient and kind, yet will give honest feedback. He worked with my dancer on her thoughts and the creative process she wanted. The photos are absolutely gorgeous!

We had an Amazing day with Andrew! My daughter had the best experience and truly saw it as her “artistic retreat” instead of an awkward photo shoot! Andrew is extremely knowledgeable with dance terminology and movements, which helped bring out the best in my dancer! He is very patient and kind, yet will give honest feedback. He worked with my dancer on her thoughts and the creative process she wanted. The photos are absolutely gorgeous! Thank you so much for a wonderful day!! We will definitely be using Andrew Bowen studios again in the future!!

YOU COME FIRST

I respect your artistry and appreciate the vulnerability and trust required to be in front of the camera. You always get the last word on aesthetics and form.

My studio is a safe and supportive space for you to try something that you’ve always wanted to do. The ONLY images that leave the studio, are those that you approve. If you don’t love it, it is a dead photo.

Share your vision, and let’s bring it to life!

He is a true collaborator who understands dance technique and is committed to creating work that both he and the dancer are proud to share.

Andrew Bowen is amazing to work with, from his pre-shoot consultations to the beautiful final products. His studio is well-equipped, and the he has everything from Gatorade to hair pins to snacks and tutus. He is a true collaborator who understands dance technique and is committed to creating work that both he and the dancer are proud to share. He is a great photographer, but he is more than that. He is truly an artist who brings creativity and out-of-the-box thinking to sessions. I’m very thankful my daughter had the opportunity to work with him, and I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a fabulous dance photographer.

ELEVATING YOUR CRAFT

Let your creativity flow! I thrive in the realm of “What if?” Tell me an idea, or an emotion, and together we can craft the movement and the lighting that will accentuate your form and set the mood that you want to convey.

Improvisation is a key dynamic during your photoshoot. We often start with one idea and then change things until we end up with something that truly represents your art.

I was impressed by how much he listened to what my daughter wanted and then made adjustments to achieve what she was looking for.

My daughter and I had the most wonderful experience with Andrew at his studio yesterday. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the poses, angles, and lines that ballerinas are looking for in their photo shoots. He was also professional, kind and unfailingly patient. I was impressed by how much he listened to what my daughter wanted and then made adjustments to achieve what she was looking for. It was a true collaboration and the images we have seen so far are absolutely beautiful. He is so talented and I would recommend him to anyone!
