Sometimes art isn’t just about recognition—it’s about connection. These juried art shows featured selections from my Creative Dance Retreats, chosen by curators and jurors for public exhibition.
NC Artists Exhibition
Hosted by Raleigh Fine Arts Society at CAM Raleigh
North Carolina’s most prestigious statewide juried gallery, the NC Artists Exhibition, is open to professional artists across the state and judged by nationally respected curators. I was honored to have my image “Enablement” selected for exhibition in the 2024 show—one of just 60 works chosen from over 700 entries. It was a rare and meaningful moment to see one of our dance portraits framed on the wall of a major contemporary museum, surrounded by sculpture, painting, and printmaking.
Additional Gallery Exhibitions
While juried gallery shows aren’t a primary focus of my competition season, I’ve occasionally submitted work to select programs across the country. Past exhibitions have included curated group shows in Ohio, South Carolina, and Texas. These events are always rewarding—but often one-offs or regional, so I focus my ongoing efforts on shows that most meaningfully connect dancers, viewers, and jurors.
Why It Matters
For the dancers featured in my work, that matters. These aren’t just portraits—they’re creative collaborations. When a piece is selected for a juried exhibition, it means that someone outside our bubble saw real artistry and resonance in what we created together. That kind of validation reaches beyond the studio. It elevates the work, and by extension, the dancer’s voice within it.
