About the Photographs

2025 International Color Awards Nominee — Justice Denied

Justice Denied

This image resulted from a collaboration with Peyton Lily, then a demi-soloist with South Carolina Ballet. We were exploring the use of cage skirts as props. The idea evolved as Peyton moved through the skirt strapping, and the motif of being blind-folded took root.

Just Take It

This image resulted from a collaboration with Ava Strickland, then a Junior in the UNCSA BFA program for contemporary dance. The idea of resignation was central to the development of this image, and we spent most of our effort crafting a compelling position.

2025 International Color Awards Nominee — Regret

Regret

This image resulted from collaborating with Garrett Lucero, then a senior at International Ballet Academy. In addition to being an accomplished dancer, Garrett is a choreographer, and skilled make-up artist. In this series, Garrett was exploring the ideas of regret and pent-up emotion destroying the body from the inside.

Intertwined

Katherine Nettles and Antony Reyes collaborated to create this moment. Both artists were enrolled in the BFA Ballet program at UNCSA, where Katherine was a graduating Senior, and Antony was a Junior. We spent a lot of time and effort getting the hand positions just right while crafting the compelling leg lines.

This image was created for the UNCSA Pluck Project for 2024. We opted for using skin tone tops to accentuate the diversity in the cohort.

For eighteen years, International Color Awards has been committed to bringing you world-class Juries selected from the most influential names in the industry. Annually, a new jury pool is created to ensure the program’s reputation for recognizing first-movers, new emerging talent, and current trends across the industry. Jury members are selected by exclusive invitation to join the international panel. They receive ballots, review the entries, and make their nomination selections. Only by having the greatest talent from both sides of the lens do we produce the intoxicating and diverse collections of color photography that the program is world-renowned for showcasing.
