2024 NC Artist Exhibition
The 2024 NC Artist Exhibition is a production of the Raleigh Fine Arts Society (RFAS) and was hosted at the Contemporary Art Museum in Raleigh (CAM). This image, “Metamorphosis,” was one of 70 pieces of art selected by the juror, Dr. Jason Rosenfeld, from over 1000 submissions. Dr. Rosenfeld is a Professor of Art History and Distinguished Chair within the Department of Art and Art History at Marymount Manhattan College.
“Metamorphoso” is displayed as a 16×24″ framed canvas print.
About the Photograph
This photograph was created in 2024 during a creative retreat with Lauren Tenney, a retiring professional dancer and current faculty at Cary Ballet Conservatory. Like so many aspects of art, allowing for evolution and the unexpected is essential. You start with one idea, make adjustments, see something differently, explore that new path, and end up someplace magical (or not). We ended up in the magical area. The title reflects both the process and visual motif.
History of the NC Artists Exhibition:
From a small exhibition in 1964, the RFAS North Carolina Artists Exhibition has evolved into the state’s largest annual all-media juried exhibition. This juried exhibition allows artists to present their works before renowned art professionals, aficionados, and potential buyers. In its 60-year history, thousands of North Carolina artists’ creative work has been celebrated in the North Carolina community.
About Raleigh Fine Arts Society:
The role of The Raleigh Fine Arts Society (RFAS) today remains as it has since its inception: To cultivate, promote, and engage in the arts. That means identifying, supporting, and recognizing creative people and helping ensure their work is seen, heard, and appreciated.
This organization has established and nurtured the essential links among those who support these pursuits, those who enjoy them, and those whose hands, hearts, and minds create them.
Fine Art Photography
Andrew Bowen Studios’ goal is to help artists thrive. When a Fine Art Photo sells, 20% of the net proceeds go to the dancer to support their career.
